Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.
US performer Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles on Monday following cancer treatment beginning in 2022, per media reports.
"He considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a announcement.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific Television Career
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, depicting a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on several hit series, including:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His work in movies are It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote online.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
