The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the same level as sparing holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, donated by a first responder, was named for the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “6-7” – originating from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: happy, multicultural, and based in heritage that bring people together. Every time, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
