The Reds Will Not Alter Attacking Style In the Face of Current Struggles, Declares Head Coach Slot

Arne Slot has stated that the team leadership agree with his assessment regarding the team's slump and he refuses to compromise their attacking style in search of a turnaround. The head coach conceded that six losses in seven matches was unacceptable ahead of Saturday's match against Aston Villa.

Increasing Scrutiny Amid Challenging Phase

Slot accepted the scrutiny was intense before his altered lineup exited the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace. However, he insisted that this need to reverse the decline is not coming from the Anfield hierarchy or executive leadership following a substantial investment of nearly £450 million.

"They say similar things," remarked the manager, whose side will meet the Spanish giants in the European competition and play against Manchester City in the domestic competition.

Squad Quality Stays Unquestioned

Slot believes his team "have an unbelievable squad if they are all fit and completely set for the schedule ahead". He noted that the summer investment in players such as Florian Wirtz and the forward, who is expected to be sidelined again against Villa through fitness issues, had left the club "in such a good place for the near future and the years to come".

Team Cohesion Issues

When questioned about why his team were struggling to integrate, he responded: "That's not particularly helpful. 'What's causing this?' I provide reasons and people say I'm offering alibis. I can identify several explanations why we are struggling for victories or experiencing losses as we do but, as I always emphasize, there are inadequate reasons to have a performance streak as we had now."

  • Regardless of whether I could list multiple factors
  • Leading this club you should not suffer defeats
  • In truth six out of seven

Backline Performance

Only the Lancashire club (twenty-one) have faced more big chances from normal situations this season than Liverpool (nineteen). The first-place team, the Gunners, have faced two. Yet the manager disputes the champions have been too open and maintains there is no basis to compromise forward-thinking approach for a defensive approach after ten matches without a goalless performance.

"In my view we're not conceding a lot of chances so I don't see a reason to change our playing style totally but we have to enhance in preventing goals," he said.

Particular Cases

"Against Manchester United, how many chances did we concede? Against Eintracht Frankfurt when we were 3-1 up, we hardly conceded a effort at our net. In every match we played until now we haven't allowed a lot of chances. Definitely not. We do allow a bit more than the prior term but that is related to us being trailing by a goal so you become more adventurous. But typically I don't feel that our problem is that we concede too many chances. Our issue is we don't score the openings we produce."
