Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of mass production for an innovative locally engineered interceptor drone to strengthen its aerial protection systems. The first three producers have started production, with 11 more preparing to set up assembly lines, the defence ministry stated this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Battlefield Conditions

These UAVs utilize a nationally created system known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. The system underwent testing in actual battle and proved effective “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” the ministry stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of producing as many as 1,000 interceptors daily.

Latest Assault on the Capital Described as Calculated

The Ukrainian president characterized Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and wicked” following six people were killed and many others wounded in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens activated in the capital shortly after midnight this past Friday, with enemy UAVs soon detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president reported the nation was targeted by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. Those killed had been at home in an apartment building on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Numerous of other buildings were damaged, including the Azerbaijani embassy.

International Protest Following Embassy Damage

Azerbaijan announced it issued a formal objection to the Russian ambassador on Friday following the destruction at its diplomatic compound. The blast from a Moscow's missile destroyed a section of the compound's boundary wall and resulted in significant destruction to the diplomatic compound, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry reported. Russia intends to produce as many as 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official said, among them 500 of an innovative, extended-range model that can reach more towns and cities. Russian forces were firing hundreds of glide bombs daily, with the previous month's daily average being approximately 170, based on defence ministry data.

Kyiv's Attacks Target Russian Oil Facilities

Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period crude shipments on Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff stated its military had launched domestically produced missiles and used various types of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of efforts to reduce the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in nearby Engels overnight.

International Sanctions Affect Moscow's Energy Company

The number two oil producer Lukoil said this past Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its international holdings following last month’s restrictions from Western nations and the collapse of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal are to be disclosed once the final agreements have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” the company commented.

Zelenskyy Plans Diplomatic Trip to Spain

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, on Tuesday to meet with parliament members a day after his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies disclosed. The Ukrainian president would meet deputies from both chambers of parliament during his visit, an official announcement said.
